Hi Seymour Students!

I am so thrilled to get to share a new Book of the Month with you. Thanks again to BLG for adding another great book into our classrooms...

This month's book is:

FACTS VS. OPINIONS VS. ROBOTS A hilarious, timely conversation about the differences between facts and opinions, by the creator of the #1 New York Times bestseller Goodnight Goon Do you know the difference between a fact and an opinion? It can be a hard thing to understand. Some things are facts–like the number of robots in this book. Other things are opinions–like which robot would make the best friend, or which robot dances best. And sometimes to tell the difference between a fact and an opinion, you need to wait to get more information–that’s because facts can be proven true or false, and opinions are things

you feel and believe–but that you can’t prove. Mike Rex introduces young readers to the very important distinction between facts and opinions, and he reminds us that it is nice to listen to one another’s opinions, and to stand up for the facts!

Before Reading: Look at the cover. What is the title? Who is the author? What do you think the book is going to be about?

During Reading: Don't be afraid to press pause. What is happening in the story? Can you think of an example of a fact? Can you think of an example of an opinion?

I hope you enjoyed the book! I enjoyed reading it to you! I used Book Creator to make it, you can check out a link to the app under the tab At-Home Resources.

After Reading

1) Try one of the following quizzes to see if you can tell the difference between Fact and Opinion.

2) Write/draw your own facts and opinions and ask a family member if they can tell you which ones are facts and which ones are opinions!
